For Sale: 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 in O'Fallon, Illinois

Gateway Classic Cars of Denver is proud to welcome this iconic 1978 Toyota FJ40! Toyota started production of the Land Cruiser FJ40 in 1960 and began importing them to the US in 1963. The last US-bound FJ rolled off the line in 1983, making a brief comeback as a modern SUV in the US called the FJ Cruiser from 2006 to 2014. From 1963 to 1983 the FJ40 saw little change aesthetically, the only real changes were improvements in technology mechanically. The Classic FJs are as comfortable on a trail as they are on the highway because they were designed to do anything you could ever ask it to do and do it well. All body panels were sandblasted and/or soda blasted, which mean any rust was removed. Lots of time and detail went into this Land Cruiser. PPG sealer was applied along with PPG High fill epoxy primer, with a top coat "Deltron Series" in Freeborn Red basecoat, followed by three coats of PPG "DCU Series" clear coat. The top and grille's top coat was also done with PPG "Deltron Series." The defining Cygnus White body seams have been resealed with 3M brand seam sealer. The 4 tires and the spare are the factory rims restored and powder coated to the original gray finish. This is an original numbers matching with a beautifully done restoration completed. From the suspension and drivetrain, to the engine and interior - there was lots of detail put into every nut and bolt, that are even restored to the original Gold Zinc finish. This is truly a one of a kind find. The frame was stripped, sandblasted and repainted with "AUE" 2 part epoxy gloss black paint. The NEW gray vinyl interior and black dash set up was also given lots of love in the restoration work. If The 2F incline 6 engine under the hood was not enough for you on the roads, don't be scared to take it off roading, lifting up the jump seats, popping off the hard top and catching some rest under the stars. With NEW tie rod ends, NEW front and rear shocks, NEW front wheel bearings and seals, NEW brake pads, NEW wheel cylinders, a NEW optima battery, a NEW alternator installed and even NEW door panels - this FJ40 will not disappoint!
