Total world-wide production was just 599 cars, with a scant 125 exported for the United States market. Custom ordered new by Rick Hendrick, this Corsa Red Ferrari is fresh out of the Hendrick Heritage Center Collection. Power comes from the 661-hp 6.0-liter V-12 mated to a six-speed automated manual transmission with F1-style paddle shifters. This incredible performance is transferred to the pavement via driver selectable sequential shift control, driver control adaptive suspension system and magnetorheological shock absorbers. Bringing things to an immediate halt is the 4-wheel carbon ceramic disc braking system with ABS. An experience like no other happens when you set the GTO's manettino (the steering-wheel-mounted dial that controls a number of vehicle functions such as traction and stability control levels and shift response) to race and summon all the horses lurking under the 599 GTO's hood. There are 661 horses on hand in this version of the 599's V-12, up from 612 in the 599 GTB, and they come quickly when called. To understate things, those upshifts don't take long. With a manettino setting of race or higher, the single-clutch automated manual takes just 60 milliseconds to go from one gear to the next. As the engine shrieks its way to its 8400-rpm peak, you're squashed into the seat, with each upshift through the six-speed gearbox giving an extra little shove. The sweet sound of the V12 is emitted from the dual stainless-steel exhaust system that is music to the ears. Even with all that power, the 599 GTO is one of Ferrari's more comfortable cars, making it a true daily-driver. The interior sports supportive Daytona bucket seats wrapped in hand-stitched leather that include a full range of electronic adjustments. The two-seater is bedecked in leather, aluminum and carbon fiber and features a host of factory options like sport steering wheel with controls, remote illuminated keyless entry, air conditioning, and power adjustable seats just to name a few. This Ferrari was purchased new by Rick Hendrick, and nearly every one of the 1,200 miles on the odometer were put on the car by him.
