Gateway Classic Cars is pleased to offer this nice 1968 Mercury
Cougar Dan Gurney Special, for sale in the Atlanta showroom.
Mercury introduced the Cougar in 1967 as the Pony Car wars were in
full swing. The Dan Gurney Special was available for the '67-'68
model years, and was signified by the sticker on the rear passenger
window, and was basically a dress up kit for the engine. Based on
the original Mustang, the Cougar was designed to be an upscale
performance icon and an alternative to the popular Mustang. The
Cougar was intentionally styled with a European flair to set it
apart from other Pony Cars of the day. The concealed headlights
were only offered on the first-generation cars, 1967-68-69. The
consignor states she is a 3-owner car, original miles, and has only
been repainted once. She is dressed in Green, with Black vinyl
roof, and a Black vinyl interior. This Cougar is powered by a 302
cu in V-8 2-barrell, mated to a C-4 automatic transmission>
Options include; A/C, Power Steering, AM Radio, Audiovox IC MPX
stereo, American Racing Aluminum wheels, P215/70R15 radial tires.
