Mercury Meteor 800. The Mercury Meteor was produced from 1961 to
1963. For 1961, the name was applied to low-end full-sized
vehicles; for 1962 and 1963, the name was applied to Mercury's
mid-sized sedans, in a marketing attempt to appeal to the
excitement surrounding the Space Race, before being discontinued.
Introduced while Mercury as a marque was in flux, and never a solid
marketplace performer in consumer sales, the Meteor remains more a
side note than a well-known Mercury product which makes this car
super rare. The rarity was kept with this car having its numbers
matching all original drivetrain. The 231 6-cylinder engine only
has 64k miles and is mated to its original automatic transmission.
The brown paint is in great condition and all of the chrome shines
like it would have when it was cruising down the street in the
60's. The matching colored cloth interior shows minimal signs of
wear and tear. This car is a show quality car that you can enjoy
