1968 is the first year for the very popular C3 Corvette platform
that ran through 1982. Some of the most iconic Corvettes of all
time are C3s. The 427 cars, the 1978 Pace Car and Silver
Anniversary and more.
We have a very origina and very rare 1968 Chevrolet Corvette here
at Adventure Classics that has the very collectable, original
numbers matching 427 cubic inch engine rated at 435 horsepower with
its Tri-Power carbs, black interior, and a 4-speed
transmission.
Engine & Drivetrain
The numbers matching 427 cubic inch engine rated at 435 horsepower
(engine numbers T0711IR...IR is the 427-435 iron head engine) with
its Tri-Power carbs rests under the hood. Look at the pics and you
will see the engine stamp of S426063 which match the VIN
#194378S426063 of this Corvette.
This great original engine looks to have retain most all of its
original parts including the Tri-Power carbs with the original fuel
lines and linkages, intake #3919852 (435 horse intake only),
triangular chrome air cleaner and valve covers, Power Steering and
brakes, 7-blade fan, H.D. radiator, braided fuel lines, tower hose
clamps, and more, correct 427-435 decal, and all sitting in what
looks like an untouched original engine compartment too.
It has a great sounding dual exhaust system and a 4-speed
transmission, this Corvette steers and stops like a sports car
should. These Corvettes are smooth riding and put the power to the
ground with an inverse leaf spring independent rear suspension. The
68 model has vacuum operated flip up headlights and a vacuum
operated windshield wiper cowl.
Interior
Our Corvette has an original looking standard black twin bucket
seat interior, with the matching black carpet, center console, and
dash with its factory tach and gauges. It has the factory chrome
4-speed shifter in that center console. Black is present throughout
including the door panels, headliner, and in the storage area and
boxes behind the seats.
The original Delco radio resides in the console with the Fiber
Optic lights above and you will notice the factory wood steering
wheel too.
Exterior
The exterior is painted #984 Safari Yellow which also matches the
Trim Tag to show it is the original color it was born with. That
shade of yellow is really pleasant and looks good with the chrome
accents, bumpers, and Chevrolet Rallye Wheels with thin white wall
tires that provide a classic and clean look.
The curves on C3 Corvettes are famously loved and the working flip
up headlights add to the sports car appeal as well as the dual
chrome exhaust tips exiting the rear that look and sound great.
Conclusion
If you're looking for an original 427-435 horse Tri Power Corvette
with its original numbers matching 427 cubic inch engine, Tri-Power
carbs, black interior, and 4-speed transmission, we have it here
for you at Adventure Classics.
It is a so rare and reasonably priced chrome bumper C3 Corvette,
wears the great color combination for a Corvette, and will always
hold its value should you ever decide to sell in the future.
