Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is proud to offer this burnt
orange metallic 1969 AMX for sale. The AMX is a two-seat GT-style
sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation from
1968 to 1970. The AMX was also classified as a muscle car but
differed from other American cars at the time because of its short
wheelbase. The name AMX is an acronym for American Motors
eXperimental, which was a code assigned to concept vehicles in the
mid-sixties. The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied
two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford
Thunderbird, and rivaled the only other two-seat American muscle
car: the Chevrolet Corvette. After only a short three-year
production run, the AMX was discontinued in 1970, and was replaced
by the Javelin from '71-'74. This classic AMX makes quite the
statement with its burnt orange metallic paint covering its sweet
vintage bodylines, and the black racing stripes that continue the
muscle car look. Under the hood of this beautiful car is a potent
390 CID V8, topped by a big 4BBL carb. Firing it up produces a loud
enough rumble that it turns heads every time the pedal hits the
floor. The 4-speed manual transmission behind it is just what most
drivers want, and it shifts smooth throughout all gears. Long tube
headers scavenge the exhaust gases into a true dual exhaust with
that epic rumble muscle car aficionados love to hear. A big
aluminum radiator and electric fan help keep the big 390 cooled.
Front disc brakes improve the stopping power, and the BF Goodrich
Radial T/A tires provide much better handling than the bias ply
tires of 1969. Wrapped around a set of American Racing TorqLite
5-spoke aluminum wheels, its rubber is sized 225/60R15 in front,
and 255/60R15 out back, so there's plenty of rubber on the road.
Inside, the black on black interior is in good condition, with twin
black synthetic leather seats being the only "occupant holders",
and they have survived very well. The carpet and dash are also in
good condition. An Alpine AM/FM/CD/MP3 head unit sends the tunes to
two tri-ax speakers behind the rear seats, so you'll have much
better tunes than you would've had with the original '69 AM radio!
Additional features and options on this 1969 AMX for sale include
Aluminum Wheels, AM/FM/CD/MP3 Radio, Power Brakes, Power Steering,
Radial Tires, Seatbelts, and Vinyl Interior. If you want a wild and
powerful muscle car with unforgettable looks and plenty of ponies
under the hood, then call today to put it in your garage! For more
