The Ford Starliner was a fastback version of in Galaxie line of
full-size Fords in 1961. It utilized the high-level Galaxie trim,
however the Galaxie name on the trunk lid was replaced by Starliner
script.
The 1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner that we have for sale here at
Adventure Classics, has the thin roof pillars, fastback styling and
slippery aerodynamics that made a suitable platform for NASCAR
teams to build their race cars. They were produced in limited
numbers and due to their racing applications few survivors like
ours exist today.
Our 1961 has had a Full Custom Restoration of the entire car from
its exterior and interior and including the underside too.
Engine & Drivetrain
Ford launched its Total Performance program in 1961 with this
Galaxie with the Z-Code (our Vin #1N53Z139930, 390 cubic inch V8
engine under the hood. That was a pretty hot setup in 1961, but
ours is even hotter with the addition of the Holley Tri-Power carb
setup which sits on top of our engine.
It also features an aluminum intake, performance spark plug wires,
aluminum finned vale covers and Tri-Power open air cleaner, factory
cast iron exhaust and dual exhaust system, air conditioning,
automatic transmission, and all sitting in a very nice, clean and
detailed engine compartment, with even the red FOMOCO windshield
washer fluid bag on the passenger inner fender.
Interior
Our Ford has had a full custom leather interior conversion
including leather compartments in the trunk, Custom Suede
Headliners, and a Custom Center Console. The new brown/black
interior is all custom but trimmed in factory fashion with twin
bucket seats, matching rear seat, door panels, factory three-spoke
steering wheel, and dash-mounted factory gauges.
The dash is painted in black and has great stainless, column
mounted shifter, and a great Kenwood Stereo Radio System that is
mounted in the center console too. Even the headliner and the trunk
area is super neat and shows well.
It also has power windows that are very unique because they work
with the old cranks to keep the appearance factory stock and
heritage of the car.
Exterior
The Starliner's unmistakable pillarless fastback silhouette and
signature Ford styling remain intact and beautifully finished in
black with the correct chrome and bright metal adornments like the
390 engine badges that distinguish our Galaxie as having that
engine.
The chrome bumpers with the black and chrome grill make for a great
appearance and the car's low stance and BF Goodrich Radial T/A
tires on custom 5-spoke mag wheels give it as great stance.
All body panels line up and doors are straight and true and the
chassis underneath is completely refinished and has no rust.
Conclusion
This 1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner that we have for sale here at
Adventure Classics has a complete complete restoration and has been
built right, carries a great Ford muscle car heritage, and is a
fantastic driver that won't disappoint you.
