These cars had full-width bodies and pontoon fenders. There were two series available, Fleetline and Styleline. Each available in Special and Deluxe models. Those cars were built through the 1952 model year. All 1949 models got 216 CID straight-6 engines and 3-speed manual transmissions. The Bel Air 2-door hardtop was introduced in 1950, as was the Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission. Cars equipped with the Powerglide got 235 CID straight-6 engines. Those with the manual trans. got 216s. 1951 saw the end of the fastback, Fleetline, models and an increase in Powerglide transmission sales to almost 50% of all Chevys sold. In 1952, Chevrolet offered the biggest range of colors and combinations to date.
