Gateway Classic Cars of Philadelphia is presenting a 1996 Chevrolet
Corvette Grand Sport for sale. Mileage on this Corvette is 52K. For
$4934 over the price of a base automatic Corvette, the 1996
Corvette Grand Sport was a package designed to put new life in a
thirteen-year-old Corvette platform. The package included Blue
paint, white stripe, red fender stripes and interior badging. The
LT 4 engine was the only option available and it was only available
with the manual transmission. provided 30 extra horses and that is
always good. This was the Chevrolet contribution to Blue Sport cars
with white stripes down the middle. It seems like every
manufacturer had one. Comments overheard at its unveiling ranged
from "Gorgeous!" to "That's the ugliest Corvette since that 1978
pace-car model." Chevrolet planned to build 1000 Grand Sports, a
mix of coupes and convertibles. All of them had the ZF six-speed
manual transmission. While no one will mistake the LT4 engine for
the late ZR-1's 405-horsepower LT5, it has noticeably more kick
than the LT1, especially through third gear. The extra 30
horsepower comes from a more aggressive camshaft, higher-flow
aluminum heads, larger valves, higher-compression pistons, new
high-flow fuel injectors, and roller rocker arms. This Grand Sport
performs and drives as it should and is equipped with AC, power
windows and locks, power steering and brakes, AM, FM cassette and
CD along with tilt and cruise. The leather interior is also in
excellent shape. To view this 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
