For the lovers of the land yacht, we present this larger-than-life
1971 Mercury Marquis Brougham in Ginger Bronze Metallic with the
Dark Tobacco interior. At 224.7 inches long and a 124 inch
wheelbase, those fortunate enough to drive this luxury liner will
enjoy the feeling of floating, while being spoiled by the optional
"Comfort Back" high-back seats. For some reason, you don't see
these 4-door Broughams very much these days. In 2010, Collectible
Automobile was looking to do a piece on these and used this car for
it. They told the owner they were ecstatic to find one because they
had been searching with no luck for quite some time. This Marquis
Brougham was ordered new in Pennsylvania on April 2, 1971 and was
in the same family for 3.5 decades with a great deal of maintenance
records that prove the mileage to be original and also show that
the car was very well taken care of! The owner gave it to his son
and then it went from PA to IA around 2004-2005. The current owner,
an avid collector, purchased it from the son in Sept. 2006. It was
never smoked in, as is evidenced by the "virgin" ashtrays, and this
interior was obviously cleaned regularly. The door panels, carpet,
headliner, and seat material are all in extremely nice condition,
with the only exception being a small tear in the driver's seat.
Just about everything works as you can see on our inspection sheet
at the end of the photos. This Merc runs and drives very well and
could be ready for and trusted on a road trip any time. It was
driven approximately 60 miles to our showroom with zero issues.
Before she arrived, she had been given a lube, oil & filter change
along with a complete evaluation of all major systems. Please see
the YouTube video for a walk-around view of the car where you can
also hear it running. The current owner is in possession of all of
the original records from the first owners as well as work done
during his ownership and they will be part of the sale. Also
included will be a Deluxe Marti Report that was run around 2006,
when the current owner purchased the car from the original owners.
