Gateway Classic Cars Dallas is proud to offer a high optioned, very
original style 1966 Ford Mustang, while most have been hotrodded,
this one stands as an original. The first generation Ford Mustangs
have held onto their popularity even better than even Betty White.
People were attracted to them for their style, size, performance
and price, and those same qualities still attract car enthusiasts
today. It is quickly apparent that this 1966 Mustang coupe has
remained on the A-list for decades with no signs of slowing down.
The code K Nightmist Blue exterior finish provides a deep shine and
gives our Ford an elegant, timeless look that will always be in
demand. It can be difficult to maintain a dark color for sure but
when it is applied professionally and maintained properly, what you
see here is the reward. The Ford's sheet metal lines up correctly
and there are no indicators of past issues, and with the work being
finished within the last few years, everything still looks crisp
and fresh. We always like to see Mustangs in their natural state,
so the lack of stripes, scoops, spoilers, or other add-ons is a
relief, but when the original design is this good, why would you
want to mess with it? And while we love the Nightmist Blue paint,
the white vinyl top adds an awesome bit of contrast that makes this
pony stand out in a crowd. Open the driver's door and you're
greeted with a new two-tone Pony Interior, expertly installed. The
carpeting, headliner, seating and door panels are all in excellent
condition and the light blue and white combination is the perfect
complement for the bodywork. This Mustang is nicely outfitted with
a center console, under-dash A/C unit, and a working AM/8-track
radio, suggesting it wasn't purchased for performance reasons
alone. A wood-rimmed steering wheel works well with the matching
dash appliques and center console, adding a sporty look that's
perfect for the Mustang's personality. The five-hole gauge panel
was standard equipment in 1966 and we're guessing that the gauges
inside are original, but they're in good condition overall and work
just fine. Thanks to R134a refrigerant, the A/C is fully functional
and reasonably effective and the trunk is correctly outfitted with
a reproduction mat and spare tire with cover. The strong-running
289 cubic inch V8 is a C-code 2-barrel unit that's smooth and
torquey, the ideal partner for the automatic transmission. There is
no such thing as matching numbers in 1966 Mustangs, but it is
correct right down to the air cleaner and valve covers. Obviously
the A/C system is new, but beyond that it's pretty much the way
Ford made it. It's not showy, but the Ford Blue engine enamel is
the right color and there are no obvious signs of trauma in this
car's past. A C4 three-speed automatic transmission shifts without
complaint and is backed by an 8-inch full of highway-friendly 2.80
gears. The undercarriage is finished in correct red oxide primer,
as original, and a new dual exhaust system gives it a nice V8 sound
that never gets annoying. Wearing 195/75/14 whitewall radials were
installed on a set of pretty styled steel wheels and are a good
match that gives this pony a crisp look with an OEM vibe. NEW A/C
SYSTEM, CORRECT COLOR COMBO, VERY NICE ALL AROUND, 289CI V8, FRONT
DISCS As the supply of clean, well-finished Mustangs shrinks, cars
like this will become ideal places to park some money for a few
years, and there's simply nothing more fun than a vintage pony with
a few tricks up its sleeve. Call today! 817-310-9400
